Have you ever thought about how video will change the way we do business and sell?
One of the next big things that will bring social media further into our lives is web enabled TV’s. This post will look at the inevitable merging of internet content with TV into one unified experience and give you two ideas on how to make it work for you.
If It Has a Screen, It’s a Window to the World
Behind the doors of R&D labs across the world poeple are thinking 24/7 about how to bring the power of the internet to anything with a screen. Therefore, we need to stop thinking of cell phones, televisions and laptops as different devices that help us complete different tasks.
Soon each of these devices will be the same thing and allow us to communicate with video, voice and interactive technology seamlessly.
If it has a screen, it will be a window into the world of information that we know as the internet.
At CES 2009 some of the major players in internet and electronics released TV’s that could access applications over the internet. The applications can be used for a wide array of Web activities, like watching videos on Google’s YouTube.com, social networking on News Corp’s MySpace.com, tracking stocks and sports teams, buying and selling on eBay, messaging friends using Twitter, or using Yahoo’s own photo-sharing website Flickr.
This is huge!
The Internet and TV Get Married
Web TV will bring what people love most about the internet to TV and you can use this to create more business.
In 2009, you’re going to see an explosion in the popularity of video blogs and if you move now you can really position yourself to make a killing. If your confused on how to use Web TV go see what Gary Vaynerchuk is doing over at Wine Library TV to get an idea.

Here are two ideas on how to use Web TV to increase your business
If you sell something you have a target market. All you need to do is think of what your target market will find interesting and then produce a show around it that features what you sell.
1.) With a web cam fulm presentations on all your products or services and post them to a blog, video blog or website. Make the content interesting and valuable and it will help you generate extra leads.
When you get the send me an e-mail objection this will also be very helpful because you can send them your presentation. Show how what your selling fixes problems or saves money and you will generate demand.
2.) Produce a Web TV show that your customers will like to watch that showcases what you sell. Then post these videos to your blog, video blog or website.
If you sell IT storage infrastructure, produce a show on new trends and developments in the IT field. If you sell flowers, produce a show on flower tips and showcase your arrangements during the show. If you sell office supplies, produce a show on how small, medium and large businesses can make or save money and then feature your supplies. If you sell complex services, produce a show on how you have helped past customers and provide useful tips to your target audience. If you sell clothes produce your own fashion show featuring your clothing line. You could also reach out to other designers and run an affiliate program off of your site.
The possibilities are endless when you begin to use your creativity and imagination.

“If you sell flowers produce a show on flower tips” I like this idea because this can creates a win win situation. Nice sharing.
@Zulnapi – Yes, thanks for your comment. It’s all about creating a winning solution for both you and your customer. A Web TV show is just one of many ways to do this.
Chad thanks for the quick respond.Chad I need your opinions on this …..what do you think about slide share?
@Zulnapi – Slideshare is a great tool to help you share your presentations across the web. Anything that helps you distribute quality content is a great idea! My favorite thing about Slideshare is you can post it to your blog and Linkedin profile for others to view your content. Very Cool.
Keep checking in and I appreciate your comments!
hi Chad…. thanks for the opinions.
My boss is presenting a monthly seminar series on “Growing Your Business on the Internet.” I keep telling him that he needs to tape these and do a webcast to reach a larger audience. He says that we aren’t ready for that yet, but I personally think that this is a mistake.
@Katie it’s a huge mistake and there is an opportunity cost associated with not doing a Web TV show. And the fact that he thinks you’re not ready for a Web TV show is a joke — he just doesn’t know how to execute it so he’s shooting down the idea.
Ask him if he’s ready for new customers and more business. If the answer is yes, a webcast can help!
What are you trying to achieve with the show?
